OCTOBER 2006 Upcoming Meetings..
Nov.
14th ……Sportsman’s in Redgranite
Jan. 9th …….. Two Oaks North in Wautoma Remember.. To host a
meeting, you must GO to meetings. Thank
you! New
Health Inspectors in our area
At our last meeting at Blader's Dakota Inn; our members got a
chance to meet our new Health Inspector Chris Hinz, if they hadn’t
already. He was a very
informative speaker, with lots of answers for our many questions.
It seems like he’s starting off on a good, more interacting
note. Let’s hope we can
keep up a good rapport.
The next committee meeting will be at 1:00 on Nov. 14th at
Sportsman’s in Redgranite, just before the regular monthly meeting. We
are looking for donations from ALL tavern league members for this event.
We need a bottle of booze for the wheel barrel, gift certs., hats,
t-shirts, ect. Please bring what you have to the meeting. If you cannot
make the meeting please bring it to Dakota Inn. If you absolutely can
not do either, please call Denise or Sue to arrange pick up.
Will vote on in November.
Received this letter from Rusty from Two Oaks. Two Oaks
North Golf Club would be honored to host the 2007 Waushara County
Tavern League Golf Fundraiser. Our
plan for this event is to sell 200 raffle tickets at a price of $100
each for a chance to win cash prizes ranging from $100 up to a Grand
prize of $3,000.00 The
first 144 tickets sold will also include entry into the June 25, 2007
golf outing. During the
golf outing we will conduct raffles and betting holes as well as offer
hole sponsorships to area businesses.
All total we anticipate that we can raise over $8,600.00 for
the Waushara County Tavern League.
We are confident that this new format and structure for the
Golf Fundraiser will be a huge success as it involves golfers and
non-golfers alike. Please
feel free to contact me regarding any questions or comments.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
Sincerely, Rusty
Grimm, General Manager

Your Vote! Don’t forget we will be
voting at our regular meeting. There is still time to do a write in
candidate at the meeting. "Spotlight
Corner"
I got to
visit a familiar little town just northwest of me called Richford.
This little burg boasts two taverns (used to be three), on Cty B
about 8 miles east of Coloma. On
the north end, close to Hwy 21, you’ll find Steele’s Country Inn.
On Tuesdays thru Saturdays; if you come anytime after around 3pm,
you’ll get to meet Doug Steele. Or, if it happens to be a Sunday, and
the Packers are on, you’ll bet that Steele’s will be open with a
Packer party going full tilt. Doug and
his wife Claudia bought, what was then Gallaghers, back in 1998. It was a
busy little place that they came right in and made it their own.
Claudia in the kitchen and Doug in the bar.
Now Doug had never done anything like this before, having worked at
Tecumseh in Slinger for 33 years. There
were some rough times he says, but some real good ones too.
It doesn’t seem like that long ago when Doug lost Claudia; but
with the help of some good friends and some help around the business, the
Country Inn continued to be a home-cookin’ kind of place.
Friday nights boasts a favorite with their Fish Fry, and their
Steak for Two is a real pleaser for any couple. These items along with
Ribs, Blue Gills, are just a few of his temptations on the full menu.
The
business is for sale at this time, but Doug says he isn’t in any big
hurry. So call Doug at
715/228-3281 and make your reservations.
He and his staff will see to it that you have an excellent dinner.
You’ll be back!!
THANKSGIVING!!
