By the next meeting I would like to hear from you so we can get classes scheduled before the summer rush is here. I believe this is a really good idea for us to do.

 SPOTLIGHT CORNER  "MURPH'S CORNER"

It’s in the big heart of this little town of Neshkoro , where you find me this month.  And if you go right about in the center, you’ll find “Murph’s Corner”.

Steve “Murph” Murphy bought Jerry’s Corner back in 1984.  It was a smooth transition for Murph, as he grew up in Neshkoro, and knew all there was to know about this little town.  He told me that in the upstairs of his bar, there used to be a dance hall and basketball court years ago.  Now, it’s used for living quarters.  Just by looking around the bar, you can tell there’s a lot of history in this place.  When he took over, he didn’t want to change much except for moving around the bar top itself. He liked the place just the way it was.  Got rid of the grill, and just concentrated on the tavern end of the business.

He has dances once and awhile, with a DJ most of the time.  In the winter months, leagues keep things moving during the week with Mixed Dart league on Tuesdays and Men’s Pool night on Thursdays.  In the summer, you can always catch all the  “after game” info on Sundays, when the Old Timers softball league plays.  Otherwise, just by looking around, you can tell it’s a hub of tales when it comes to fishing or hunting season. There are many beautiful mounts of big fish and game all over this place. Many great stories, I’m sure.

There will be a Car Show coming up on April 29th, where the street will be closed down for a while. The show itself is 10am-5pm.  Other busy times of the year include the Lions BBQ and the annual Fireworks during the 4th.

So, if you happen to drive through this little town, just over into Marquette County ; stop by, have a pizza, and say “Hi” to Murph.  He’ll always have a good tale to tell. You can reach Murph at 920/293-5053. They’re open 7 days a week, 365 days a year; 10am to close.  “Catch” you there!
